Job summary

AbbVie is seeking a Director of Oncology Public Affairs to lead international public affairs across oncology, shaping policy, advocacy, and communications to improve patient access and standards of care. You will partner with global and regional teams to advance strategic priorities and drive measurable impact while leading a high-performing team.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in public affairs, patient advocacy, external affairs, or a related field.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, public affairs, journalism, or a life sciences field preferred.
Demonstrated experience leading therapeutic area public affairs and milestone communications.
Experience working across international markets strongly preferred.
Proven ability to operate within senior leadership teams and articulate the value of public affairs in a matrix environment.
Strong executive presence, writing skills, and ability to communicate with impact.

Responsibilities

Lead the development and execution of public affairs priorities across AbbVie’s oncology portfolio.
Partner with cross-functional colleagues to develop communication and advocacy strategies that elevate standards of care and improve patient access.
Set clear priorities across franchises, focusing resources where public affairs delivers differentiated impact.
Collaborate with Europe/Intercontinental regions and Affiliates to ensure pull-through and measurement of execution.
Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering growth and sustained impact.
Represent AbbVie externally with priority patient organizations and media.
