Our goal is to advance GWU’s mission of excellence in education, research, scholarship, and patient care.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Director of OVP Operations plays an integral role in helping to ensure that efforts across the university and division, relative to GW’s top donors and prospects, are coordinated. This position works closely with key internal stakeholders and occasionally with high-level external stakeholders, and requires a high level of judgement, attention to detail, customer service, organization, and ability to multi-task and prioritize. The Director should be able to work with a high degree of independence and have the ability to learn quickly. The Director liaises with key university offices, including the Office of the President and Office of the Board of Trustees, to ensure high-level coordination on behalf of DAR. This includes managing the Project Coordinator, OVP, who handles the leadership request and scheduling process. The position requires a thorough understanding of donor and prospect backgrounds and strategic movement, and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. The Director also supports presidential strategy and coordination for top prospects on behalf of DAR, including the execution of leadership travel and presidential salon dinners. Excellent communication and editing skills, both written and oral are necessary. A strong understanding of event and meeting planning is preferred.

Job Duties :

  • Oversees leadership travel for DAR, including prioritizing donors and prospects for visits with the Executive Director and Principal Gifts team, coordinating and conducting outreach to donors and prospects, developing itineraries and briefings, and managing logistics.

  • Manages the Project Coordinator, Office of the Vice President, providing oversight for the leadership request, scheduling, and briefing process.
  • Reviews, and at times writes, briefing materials in advance of meetings with the President, Provost, and Vice President.
  • Acts as DAR’s secondary liaison to the Office of the President, Office of the Provost, and Office of the Board of Trustees to ensure high-level communication and coordination.
  • Drafts and edits written communications on behalf of the President and Vice President, as requested.
  • Supports the Vice President by providing project management for her portfolio of donors and prospects in coordination with Research and Relationship Management

Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses / Certifications / Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications : Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience in increasingly responsible development / alumni positions desired. Prior GW work experience is desirable.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and project management skills with ability to multi-task.
