Job summary

BlueGreen Alliance is seeking a Director of Workforce Development Policy in Washington, DC. This senior role leads the workforce program, advancing high-road, union-friendly training pathways and policy advocacy across federal and state levels.

The successful candidate will manage coalitions, drive equitable workforce investments, and ensure alignment with labor and environmental justice goals while traveling nationally as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in workforce development policy.
• Proven ability to lead cross-sector coalitions of labor, environmental groups, and industry partners.
• Strong relationships with lawmakers, labor partners, workforce boards and government agencies.
• Experience with federal and state workforce development programs and clean energy investments.

Responsibilities

• Strategize with coalitions and policymakers to develop or defend workforce development policies.
• Collaborate with national partners and state affiliates on policy strategies and investments.
• Develop state-level policy tying workforce standards to public investments in infrastructure and clean tech.
• Attend congressional hearings, briefings, and meetings with federal agencies.
• Supervise staff and coordinate cross-region projects; manage partnerships with apprenticeship programs.
• Seek funding for the Workforce Development program and support capacity building.
