Location: Gretna, NE
Service Line: Hillcrest Highlands of Gretna
Schedule: Full-Time

Hillcrest Health & Living is looking for a confident, compassionate, and highly organized Director of Wellness Services to join the leadership team at Hillcrest Highlands of Gretna.

This is an opportunity for an RN or LPN leader who loves senior living, enjoys developing teams, and wants to have a direct impact on the quality of care and experience residents receive every day.

As the Director of Wellness Services, you will oversee the health and wellness needs of residents in Assisted Living and Memory Care while leading the Personal Care Assistant and Med Tech teams. You will balance clinical oversight, team leadership, staffing, regulatory compliance, resident relationships, and day-to-day problem-solving in a role where no two days are exactly the same.

At Hillcrest, our mission is simple: Inspiring people to live their best lives. In this role, you will bring that mission to life by creating an environment where residents receive personalized care, families feel confident, and team members have the leadership and support they need to succeed.

What You’ll Do

As the Director of Wellness Services, you will be a key clinical leader within Hillcrest Highlands, overseeing resident wellness services and helping ensure exceptional care throughout Assisted Living and Memory Care.

You will:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to Personal Care Assistants and Medication Aides.
  • Help ensure each resident receives care and support according to their individualized service agreement.
  • Create, coordinate, and manage PCA and Med Tech schedules to maintain appropriate staffing and continuity of care.
  • Complete resident assessments, including pre-move-in, move-in, and ongoing assessments.
  • Monitor resident health needs and ensure changes in condition are identified and addressed appropriately.
  • Implement physician orders and maintain accurate resident records.
  • Review daily documentation to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Review Medication Administration Records for errors, missed doses, missing signatures, and overall accuracy.
  • Ensure medications are provided according to applicable Medication Aide requirements.
  • Evaluate Medication Aide competency and make appropriate assignments based on resident safety and team-member competency.
  • Prepare physician updates, medication information, and documentation needed for resident appointments.
  • Coordinate communication related to physician appointments, transportation, and scheduling.
  • Complete weekly rounds with primary care providers for participating residents.
  • Maintain awareness of residents’ ADL, behavioral, and changing care needs.
  • Investigate resident events, complete root-cause analysis, and coordinate appropriate follow-up and communication.
  • Ensure appropriate notifications are made to physicians, families, leadership, and other involved parties.
  • Participate in resident Plan of Care conferences with residents, families, and designated representatives.
  • Partner closely with the Administrator and other community leaders to provide a strong resident experience.
What We’re Looking For

We are looking for more than a strong clinician. We are looking for a leader who can build a team, manage the details, and keep resident care at the center of every decision.

This is a dynamic leadership role. Some days may involve coaching team members and reviewing staffing; others may involve resident assessments, family conversations, physician coordination, medication oversight, or quickly responding to an unexpected change in condition.

The right person will enjoy that variety.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Strong clinical judgment and critical-thinking skills.
  • A genuine passion for working with aging adults.
  • Confidence leading, coaching, and holding team members accountable.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with residents and families.
  • Strong organization and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of resident assessment and care planning.
  • Comfort overseeing medication‑management processes.
  • Ability to identify concerns, investigate issues, and develop solutions.
  • Strong attention to documentation and regulatory compliance.
  • A collaborative leadership style and willingness to jump in when the team needs support.
  • The ability to remain calm, flexible, and solutions-focused when situations change quickly.
Education & Credentials
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current Nebraska or compact-state RN or LPN license required.
  • At least one year of clinical experience in geriatrics, Assisted Living, or dementia care required.
  • At least two years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Geriatric certification preferred.
  • BLS/CPR certification required or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
