Job summary

The City of Temple, TX is seeking a Disposal & Special Collections Division Director to lead the special collection teams, recycling processing operations, and budgeting reporting. The ideal candidate will combine strong managerial, analytical, and accounting skills with a commitment to environmental sustainability and excellent customer service.

You will oversee brush, bulk, and roll-off collection, recycling program initiatives, and performance tracking to improve efficiency and participation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in environmental studies, business mgmt, public administration, or related field.
• 5 years of experience in solid waste, recycling, public works, or related field.
• 3 years in a managerial role.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee Brush, Bulk, and Roll-off collection operations for service delivery.
• Provide direction to the recycling processing division.
• Oversee departmental financial operations: budgeting, billing, financial reporting, PCard, requisitions.
• Assist Director with strategic planning and fiscal management.
• Evaluate customer feedback to identify service improvements.
• Collaborate with Director and stakeholders to enhance performance and customer satisfaction.
• Direct recycling program initiatives to optimize processing and material recovery.
• Track facility and program performance and implement efficiency improvements.
• Stay informed on industry trends in recycling and waste diversion.
• Partner with local government and community groups to boost program visibility.
• Ensure compliance with city policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
