Job summary

121 Altasciences Preclinical Scranton, Inc is seeking a Director of Veterinary Services to lead the site’s veterinary care program. You will oversee animal health, supervise surgical/anesthesia procedures, and ensure compliance with USDA, AAALAC, and AWA standards while supporting study directors and sponsors.

The role requires a D.V.M. or ECFVG certificate, a valid state license, and at least 6 years of practice with relevant species, including 3+ years in management.

Qualifications

• D.V.M. degree from an accredited university or ECFVG certificate.
• State veterinary license required; further certifications preferred.
• Minimum 6 years of practice with species similar to those at Atlasciences; 3+ years in management.

Responsibilities

• Oversee veterinary care programs in line with USDA/AAALAC/AWA requirements.
• Supervise anesthesia and post-operative care; ensure sterile surgical quarters.
• Contribute to GLP data collection and study procedures as needed.
• Advise IACUC and study teams on animal welfare techniques; develop alternatives.
• Develop KPIs and lead vet staff to meet departmental goals and growth.
