Job summary

The City of Brentwood is seeking an experienced Director of Planning and Development to lead the Planning and Development Department, guide urban land use planning, and drive economic development initiatives. The role requires strong policy expertise, coordination with multiple city and county entities, and the ability to manage major redevelopment projects.

Qualifications

• AICP certification is required.
• Master’s degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Public Policy or a related field is required.
• Eight or more years of progressive, responsible experience in municipal planning.
• Minimum of three years of supervisory experience as a Director or Assistant Director of a municipal Planning Department or related field.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct and manage the Planning and Development Department, including staff supervision and evaluation.
• Provide technical support in development and economic programs and projects.
• Manage development review and approval processes to align with the city’s comprehensive plan.
• Develop strategies to attract and retain businesses and promote economic growth.
• Serve as staff to the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Adjustment, and oversee redevelopment efforts.

Education

AICP certification
