Job summary

The City of Brentwood is seeking an Assistant Planner to support current planning, guiding residential and commercial development from application review to approval and implementation. You’ll work with developers, property owners, and City staff to align proposals with the General Plan, zoning, and design standards.

Responsibilities include site visits, staff reports, environmental review, and coordinating with Planning Commission, City Council, and other boards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban or regional planning, architecture, or related field.
• 1 year of responsible planning and zoning experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review development proposals and ensure compliance with General Plan, zoning, and design standards.
• Prepare staff reports, notices, resolutions, and other planning documents.
• Coordinate site visits, reviews with City departments, and public hearings.
• Support Planning Commission and City Council with meeting materials and recommendations.
• Monitor conditions of approval and environmental review.

Education

Bachelor's degree in urban/regional planning or related field
