Responsibilities

• Leads the Admissions Committee for final application review.

• Oversees selection and notification of Honors Scholars and Academic Fellowship Programs.
• Assesses the strengths and competencies of Admissions Counselors and manages the team accordingly.
• Leads Associate Directors in development of strategic recruitment plans; monitors and motivates performance; leads events.
• Provides leadership development opportunities for the Undergraduate Admissions recruitment team.
• Supervises a team of full-time employees; sets expectations and staffing decisions.
• Works with Associate Directors to plan for attracting students from targeted high schools.
• Sets goals for inquiries, applications, campus visits, admitted and enrolled students for assigned territories.
• Oversees annual application review process with goals for admits and review workflow.
• Meets with students and families after campus tours to explain process, scholarships, and opportunities.
• Contributes to strategic planning and policy development for the Admissions Team.

The Admissions Office seeks a key team member responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the University's undergraduate student recruitment program and admissions process. The Director of Enrollment will be tasked with responsibilities including application, admissions, and pre-enrollment assistance for students and parents, publications and media support, off-campus programming (school and community outreach), and enrollment planning. Candidates should demonstrate a high degree of emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. They should be goals and outcomes-oriented with excellent relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities of the Director of Undergraduate Admissions

• Leads the Admissions Committee for final application review
• Assists Admissions Strategy Team members in developing annual comprehensive plans and recruitment strategies based on research (historical statistics and future predictions), market trends, university development, and demographic information provided by the office and/or third-party vendors.
• Works with key university partners, assisting individuals and departments in maximizing their effectiveness in application requirements, as well as enrollment efforts and opportunities.
• Oversees selection and notification of Honors Scholars and Academic Fellowship Programs
• Assesses the strengths and competencies of Admissions Counselors and manage the team accordingly
• Leads team of Associate Directors in development of their strategic recruitment plans; monitors, counsels and motivates performance toward achieving goals; leads team in planning and conducting events
• Offers and guides leadership development opportunities for the entire Undergraduate Admissions recruitment team through motivation, counseling and general university knowledge education.
• Supervises a team of full-time employees, including setting clear expectations, scheduling, training, assigning work and ensuring completion of assigned responsibilities; makes recommendations for hiring and firing
• Works with Associate Directors and Counselors to create a Strategic Plan for attracting students with the right academic qualifications, from target high schools in assigned territories
• Works with Associate Directors and Counselors to set goals for inquiries, applications, campus visitors, accepted students and enrolled students for their assigned territories
• Oversees the annual application review process, by setting clear goals for admits, identifying key segments of students for specialized review, managing and improving application workflow, and developing review requirements and strategies for counselors, to achieve strategic enrollment goals for the university
• Meets with students and families after campus tours, explaining the application process, scholarship opportunities, study abroad, High Point University’s differentials, and answering all student or parent questions
• Contributes to strategic planning and policy development for the Admissions Team

Requirements of the Director of Undergraduate Admissions

• 6 years’ experience in Enrollment Management in required
• 4 years’ experience managing and leading professional staff is required.
• A bachelor's Degree is required.
• A master's Degree from an accredited institution is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated financial acumen, providing oversight and leadership.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to think and plan strategically.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
