The role involves managing and overseeing the planning staff within the transportation planning division of the department. Responsibilities include overseeing planning staff activities such as plan reviews, contract planning work, service to municipalities, and transportation programs including trails and bicycle facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Report to the Executive Director.
- Assist with transportation work program and staff assignments.
- Oversee development of transportation components of local and county comprehensive plans.
- Manage the DVRPC Transportation Improvement Program for Highways and Transit Facilities and monitor major transportation projects.
- Review transportation impact statements submitted with land development proposals.
- Coordinate transportation planning activities with local, regional, state, and federal agencies.
- Represent the county on various boards including DVRPC and TMA Bucks.
- Oversee the county Trail Construction Program.
- Manage grants and contracts related to transportation projects.
- Develop check requests for invoices.
- Assist county officials on transportation and related issues.
- Coordinate personnel activities such as hiring, training, and disciplinary actions.
- Stay informed on current transportation planning issues and share knowledge with staff.
- Promote activities via social media and maintain public webpages.
- Attend meetings, give presentations, and assist the public.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in planning or civil engineering with a transportation focus, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in transportation planning principles.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and with the public.
- Reliable transportation and availability for off-site meetings.
