THE ROLE

The Director of Transactional Finance leads Talon's North Talon’s Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury and other transactional finance functions, ensuring robust financial governance, operational excellence, and first-class service delivery across the business. This role will be reporting directly to the North America CFO.

This is a highly visible leadership role requiring a proactive, hands‑on finance professional who can balance strong financial control with a continuous improvement mindset. You will be responsible for ensuring that all transactional finance processes operate efficiently, accurately, and in line with company policies, financial controls, and regulatory requirements.

The role requires an exceptional people leader who can develop high‑performing teams, build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and drive consistency, accountability, and service excellence across all transactional finance activities. Working closely with the Financial Controller and wider Finance Leadership Team, you will play a key role in strengthening governance, improving processes, managing risk, and ensuring the integrity of Talon's financial operations.

A DAY IN THE LIFE
Transactional Finance Leadership
  • Lead, develop and inspire the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Treasury teams, creating a high‑performing, collaborative and accountable culture.
  • Establish clear objectives, service standards and performance measures across all transactional finance functions.
  • Drive team engagement, succession planning and professional development initiatives.
  • Ensure appropriate resource planning, workload management and operational resilience within the function.
  • Maintain strong financial controls across all transactional finance activities, ensuring compliance with company policies, delegated authorities and audit requirements.
  • Oversee all AP and AR processes, ensuring transactions are processed accurately, efficiently and in accordance with supplier controls and group protocols.
  • Act as the key control owner for banking, treasury and corporate card processes, ensuring appropriate governance and risk management.
  • Proactively identify control gaps, risks and inefficiencies, implementing solutions to strengthen the control environment.
  • Support the Financial Controller and external auditors with audit requests, documentation and recommendations arising from internal and external reviews.
Accounts Receivable & Commercial Management
  • Ensure the effective collection of receivables, maintaining robust credit control processes and strong cash conversion performance.
  • Oversee customer account management, aged debt reporting and escalation processes.
  • Partner with commercial stakeholders to resolve complex billing, collection and customer account issues.
  • Drive improvements in debtor performance and working capital management.
  • Oversee the end‑to‑end supplier payment cycle, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices and payments.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships and act as a senior escalation point for complex issues.
  • Ensure compliance with supplier onboarding, payment approval and procurement policies.
  • Monitor payment practices and identify opportunities to optimize working capital whilst maintaining positive supplier relationships.
Treasury & Cash Management
  • Lead all treasury operations, cash flow management and banking activities.
  • Monitor cash positions and provide meaningful reporting and forecasting to support business decision‑making.
  • Maintain robust controls over banking platforms, payment approvals and cash management processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve treasury processes, enhance visibility and reduce financial risk.
Process Improvement & Transformation
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives across transactional finance.
  • Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve reporting and enhance efficiency through technology and process redesign.
  • Challenge existing ways of working and drive best practice across the finance function.
  • Lead and support finance transformation and integration projects as required.
Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders regarding transactional finance matters.
  • Build strong relationships across the business, providing a professional, responsive and solutions‑focused service.
  • Influence stakeholders effectively while maintaining appropriate financial discipline and governance standards.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Experience implementing or managing AP automation platforms
  • Experience handling complex billing requirements of media agencies and holding companies

AS WELL AS
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 8+ years of accounts payable and accounts receivable experience, including team leadership
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience leading AP and/or AR teams, ideally across multiple locations
  • Experience with AP automation and payment control frameworks
  • Experience managing transactional accounting through a period of process change or systems implementation
  • Experience in a private equity‑backed or high‑growth environment preferred
  • Experience in Media sector preferred
  • Experience working across US and Canadian transactional processes preferred
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel; ERP experience required
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Flexible with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Self‑motivated with a positive can‑do attitude
  • Ability to work with a cross‑functional team across multiple regions (US, Canada, UK)
  • Ability and willingness to get their sleeves rolled up and get into the detail
  • Strong commercial business acumen
  • Experience with advertising agency‑specific financial systems and ability to successfully work with and utilize company financial resources
