Job description

Do you have a visionary mindset and a knack for transforming technology in a legal landscape?

Are you able to strike the perfect balance between strong technical skills and strategic leadership?

Can you optimize complex data systems to enhance efficiency and productivity within a dynamic law firm?

Is leading a team while managing relationships with external partners part of your technology success story?

Final question: When faced with a challenge, do you get excited or run away?

With a strong dedication to transforming personal tragedies into meaningful change, the firm has recovered over $5 billion in settlements for its clients. This commitment has earned the law firm a place among the most respected personal injury law firms, recognized continuously by U.S. News—Best Law Firms® and other prestigious platforms.

The Law firm specializes in a range of practice areas, including motor vehicle accidents, personal injuries, medical negligence, and environmental disasters. The firm is driven by a mission to ensure justice, offering aggressive legal representation while prioritizing client welfare and community impact. The firm's ethos revolves around not just taking cases, but tackling causes to champion the rights of victims everywhere.

The law firm seeks a Director of Technology & Information Systems to oversee and transform its technological landscape. This vital role exists to enhance the firm’s operational efficiency and support its mission to deliver exceptional legal services. As the firm expands its reach and impact, the Director will be pivotal in integrating technology solutions that streamline processes, improve workflows, and enhance data utilization. Beyond managing systems, the Director will help ensure a seamless technology experience for the legal team and clients, supporting efficient and effective firm operations. This is a fully onsite leadership role, reflecting the hands‑on nature of the position and the need to directly support the firm's hardware, infrastructure, employees, and day‑to‑day technology operations.

What you’ll do:

  • Technology Leadership: Oversee the firm’s day-to-day technology operations, serving as a key onsite technology resource.

  • Systems Management: Manage databases, hardware, software, and ensure effective technology deployment across multiple locations.

  • Workflow Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve workflows and automation within the firm's software platforms, especially SmartAdvocate.

  • Responsible AI Enablement: Evaluate and implement AI where it provides practical operational value, while maintaining appropriate human oversight, confidentiality, and control.

  • Data & Reporting Leadership: Improve data quality, reporting infrastructure, and dashboards so leadership has clear visibility into intake, marketing, operations, and performance. Simplify data‑entry workflows while preserving the information needed for accurate reporting and decision‑making.

  • Internal & External Technology Oversight: Lead the internal technology function while partnering closely with the firm’s outsourced IT provider to maintain transparency, documentation, redundancy, security, and clear accountability across the technology environment.

  • Team Management: Lead and mentor existing technology staff, assessing resource needs and integrating new team members as needed.

  • Hands‑On IT Support: Troubleshoot employee technology issues, provision laptops and equipment, support hardware and desktop needs onsite, and elevate more complex issues to external technology partners when appropriate.

  • Technology Standards & Documentation: Build and maintain technology policies, procedures, hardware standards, system documentation, and operating guidelines so critical knowledge is documented, transparent, and not concentrated with any one individual.

What we’re looking for:

  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience in technology leadership, including network and hardware management.

  • Strategic Vision: Ability to evaluate and implement new technology platforms and processes for operational enhancement.

  • SmartAdvocate & Data Systems: SmartAdvocate experience is strongly preferred and would be a significant advantage. Candidates should also have strong database, reporting, and data‑visualization skills and the ability to quickly master complex legal systems.

  • Leadership Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to guide cross‑functional teams and work collaboratively with external partners.

  • Change Management: Skilled in navigating resistance and implementing change in established systems to improve efficiency and outcomes.

  • Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting abilities and a solutions‑oriented mindset focused on continual process improvement.

Why you should work here:

  • Leadership Access: Work directly with the COO, playing a key role in strategic decision-making and modernization efforts.

  • Autonomy and Impact: Drive technological advancements that shape the firm’s operations and client service.

  • Growth Environment: Join a team-driven culture with opportunities for personal and professional development.

  • Community Focus: Contribute to a firm dedicated to justice and community welfare, enhancing the lives of clients nationwide.

  • Health Insurance: Comprehensive health plans available for employees and their families.

  • Retirement Plans: Access to 401(k) retirement savings programs.

  • Paid Time Off: Generous PTO policy to ensure work‑life balance.

Join as a Director of Technology & Information Systems and become a catalyst for change within a pioneering legal firm. With opportunities to innovate and lead, this role is critical in ensuring technological excellence and enhancing client outcomes.
