Job summary

Erickson Senior Living in Baltimore seeks a Director of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting to lead a team responsible for complex accounting issues, and the preparation of audited financial statements and disclosures for our home office and communities.

You will promote a culture of fiscal stewardship, implement internal controls, and collaborate with internal and external auditors to address findings and drive improvements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years in accounting and financial reporting.
• Last 5+ years in a management/supervisory role over accounting professionals.
• Current CPA required.
• Experience at an audit/CPA firm is a plus.
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing supervision and leadership.
• Oversee the preparation of internal and external monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Lead research for technical accounting matters relating to material transactions and contracts.
• Oversee the implementation of new accounting standards and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures and controls.
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and address findings.
• Provide technical guidance to finance and accounting teams on complex accounting issues.

As our Director of Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting, you will be responsible for leading a team that provides guidance and support on complex accounting issues; preparation of audited financial statements and disclosures for our home office and community entities; and implementing policies and internal controls. Compensation

$160,000 - $180,000 per year, plus eligibility for annual bonus. Competitive benefits packages including medical, dental, vision, and PTO in accordance with applicable state law

How you will make an impact

• Mentor and develop a team of accounting professionals, providing supervision, leadership, and support to drive high-performance and professional development
• Oversee the preparation of all internal and external monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable regulatory or contractual requirements
• Lead research for technical accounting matters relating to material transactions and contracts
• Oversee the implementation of new accounting standards and ensure compliance with changes in regulations
• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure accurate financial reporting, strengthen internal controls and mitigate risks
• Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audit and ensure adherence to audit requirements; address audit findings and implement corrective actions as necessary
• Provide technical guidance to finance and accounting teams on complex accounting issues

What you will need

• Minimum of 7 years in accounting and financial reporting with at least the last 5+ years in a management/supervisory role over accounting professionals.
• Current CPA required.
• Experience at an audit/CPA firm a plus.
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
