Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly motivated Director of Academics in Dayton, Ohio to lead instructional staff and ensure rigorous curriculum implementation for EK-8 students at Montgomery Preparatory Academy. You will guide teachers in using materials effectively, differentiate instruction, and provide ongoing coaching and professional development to raise student achievement.

Qualifications

• Active professional teacher certification.
• Minimum of five years’ experience as a successful teacher.
• Two years’ experience as an Instructional Coach, Teacher Leader, or other related position strongly preferred.
• Track record of building positive working relationships with staff, students, parents, Board members, and authorizers.
• Demonstrated results in increasing student achievement on relevant state test measures.
• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Experience using multiple sources of data collection to assess student performance and plan instruction.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills that reflect professionalism and tact.

Responsibilities

• Owns and supports the school’s instructional staff to ensure rigorous curriculum implementation.
• Guides teachers in using instructional materials and differentiating across the curriculum.
• Reviews lesson plans weekly and conducts frequent teacher observations with debriefs.
• Models effective instructional practices and provides coaching for classroom delivery.
• Delivers targeted professional development tied to curriculum and instruction.
• Utilizes data from various sources to identify barriers to achievement and inform instruction.
