Halff Associates, Inc. is seeking a Director of Survey for South Texas to lead and grow our survey practice across Texas offices. You will guide multiple teams, balance operations with strategic growth, and strengthen client relationships.
A seasoned leader is expected to drive quality, performance, and business development in a dynamic environment. The role requires 10+ years in land surveying with at least 5 years as an RPLS, Texas licensure, and a track record of multidisciplinary project
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in land surveying or related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Licensed RPLS in the Survey field.
- Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) in Texas and ability to obtain other states.
- Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams on large, complex projects.
- Strong understanding of survey operations, project financials, and resource management.
- Demonstrated success in business development, client management, and regional pursuits.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support multiple surveying teams through Team Leaders and Senior Team Leaders.

- Oversee financial performance, staffing, scheduling, quality control, and workshare across survey teams.
- Provide technical leadership in surveying, ensuring adherence to QA/QC standards and best practices.
- Drive regional and local growth initiatives within land surveying, geomatics, and related services.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on complex and high-profile surveying projects.
- Mentor and develop senior survey staff, supporting performance, career growth, and retention.
- Collaborate closely with operations managers, practice leaders, and HR on staffing, hiring, and resource planning.

Halff has an immediate opening for a Director of Survey for our South Texas (San Antonio, Austin, Houston/The Woodlands, McAllen/Brownsville, Corpus Christi) offices. This is a leadership position and will collaborate with Survey Team Leaders out of our Texas (TX) offices. We are seeking a seasoned Director to lead and grow our Survey Practice, providing direction and support to multiple teams across one or more offices. This role is a key leadership position, bridging operations, technical excellence, and business growth while ensuring high-quality survey delivery and strong client relationships. The ideal candidate would bring at least 10 years of progressive experience within the land survey industry, with at least 5 years of experience as an RPLS. - Bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in land surveying or a related field
- At least 5 years of experience as a Licensed RPLS in the Survey field
- Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) in Texas and ability to obtain other states.
- Proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams on large, complex projects
- Strong understanding of survey operations, project financials, and resource management
- Demonstrated success in business development, client management, and regional pursuits
