Job summary

New River Community and Technical College seeks a Program Director and Instructor of Surgical Technology to lead curriculum, ensure ARC/STSA and CAAHEP compliance, and deliver instruction across didactic, lab, and clinical settings.

The role requires on-site presence, coordination of clinical placements, engagement with affiliates, and ongoing program improvement; a bachelor’s degree and CST certification are preferred, with at least five years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of an associate degree in surgical technology.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred for administrative and instructional responsibilities.
  • Must have a current CST certification and national credentials.
  • Five years of operating room or instructional experience within the past ten years.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the Surgical Technology Program: oversight, curriculum development, accreditation compliance.
  • Coordinate clinical education: placements, site visits, documentation of performance.
  • Instruct students: deliver didactic, lab, and clinical teaching; assess progress.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and accreditation training.
  • Maintain compliance with ARC/STSA and CAAHEP accreditation requirements.
