Job summary

The University of Georgia seeks a Communications Director for the Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant leadership team in Athens. The role directs all communications operations, mentors staff, and collaborates with leadership, faculty, staff, partners and stakeholders to advance research, education and extension programs.

Reporting to the unit director, you will manage print, digital content, media relations and fundraising communications, while promoting coastal programs to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and 8 years of professional experience.
• Experience with digital communications platforms, CMS, social media, multimedia production, photography and graphic design.

Responsibilities

• Direct the operations of the communications department and align with strategic goals.
• Develop and implement internal and external communication strategies and brand messaging.
• Oversee digital communications, website, newsletters, and media relations.
• Support fundraising initiatives and donor communications.
• Promote public programs and events hosted by the unit.
