Job summary

Saint John’s Communities in Milwaukee seeks a Director of Spiritual Care to provide for the spiritual and emotional needs of residents and staff. You will lead worship, administer sacraments, and supervise chaplaincy staff, coordinating with the Episcopal Diocese and local churches.

The role requires ordination, a Master of Divinity, 4 CPE units, and at least two years of pastoral ministry with older adults, plus strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must be ordained Episcopal clergy and eligible to work in the Episcopal Diocese of Milwaukee.
• Must hold a Master of Divinity or equivalent.
• Must complete 4 units of clinical pastoral education.
• Minimum of two years' experience in pastoral ministry with older adults.
• Strong planning, organization and communication skills; able to work with diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain relationships with residents across the campus.
• Lead spiritual care services and administer the sacraments as appropriate.
• Coordinate with hospice chaplain and make hospital visits as needed.
• Supervise Chaplain and Chapel Musician; coach and evaluate performance.
• Oversee confidentiality and resident rights; act as resident advocate as needed.
• Represent Saint John’s to churches and ecumenical groups; promote community partnerships.
