Job summary

CSAAC's Community School of Maryland - Emory Grove location seeks a Director of Education to provide leadership, administer programs, and supervise staff, ensuring services align with regulatory requirements and the organization's mission.

The role oversees curriculum, IEP processes, budgeting, staff development, and collaboration with families, educators and external partners to support students with developmental disabilities.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in special education; Maryland professional license as a special educator supervisor or special education principal, or a valid Maryland professional teaching license in special education required.
• Experience in a lead administration role working with individuals with developmental disabilities in an instructional setting preferred. Experience with transition services is also preferred.
• An additional three (3) years of teaching experience in special education is required if candidate only holds a professional teaching license.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise the educational program according to COMAR and CSAAC policy.
• Select and implement curriculum; oversee instructional materials and the library media collection; oversee quality of instructional programs.
• Supervise and coordinate IEP-related matters, including development, implementation, and documentation of progress; chair annual/tri-annual/periodic IEP meetings.
• Interview job applicants for school positions.
• Ensure operational expenses stay within budget guidelines and resources are reallocated to meet needs.
• Communicate with MSDE and LEA staff regarding student progress; arrange MSDE site visits as required.
• Disseminate information regarding CSAAC-Emory Grove company-wide information; handle referrals and intake; distribute reporting to LEAs.
• Review and maintain student records as required by State/local agencies; monitor record keeping and reporting systems.
• Provide parents with regular feedback on progress; meet with parents regarding concerns and suggestions.
