Job summary

E-Space is hiring a Director/VP of Software Engineering to lead the full software engineering organization for space vehicle programs. Qualifications

• 12+ years in software engineering with 5+ years in engineering leadership managing managers or 15+ engineers
• Deep embedded systems and BSP development experience including bootloaders and device drivers
• Proven leadership on space/defense or safety-critical platforms
• Strong background in communications software and spacecraft subsystems
• Track record delivering multi-million-dollar software programs on time and budget

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the software engineering vision, architecture, and roadmap across all space vehicle programs
• Provide hands-on technical leadership in embedded systems, BSP development, and communications software
• Oversee software design and implementation for spacecraft comms subsystems (SpaceWire, MIL-STD-1553, CCSDS)
• Own software architecture for Command & Data Handling systems and flight software
• Champion software quality, reliability, and compliance with DO-178B/C or equivalent standards
• Drive hardware/software co-design and integration with other engineering teams
• Represent software in customer briefings, program reviews, and leadership meetings
• Contribute to business development with software approaches and resource estimates
