Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior engineering leader to lead multiple product-focused software teams in Illinois. You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product managers, and drive architectural initiatives across full-stack applications.

You will champion modern software practices, agile processes, and the adoption of microservices and AWS deployments. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strategic thinking and a passion for tech excellence.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree required.
7+ years of software development experience.
5+ years of people management experience.
Master’s Degree preferred (CS or Software Engineering).
10+ years of software development experience preferred.
5+ years applying Agile practices (preferred).
Experience using interactive AI tooling to accelerate productivity (preferred).

Responsibilities

Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers.
Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team.
Collaborate with product managers to understand desired capabilities and testing scenarios.
Continuously improve software engineering practices.
Design, develop, test, implement, and support full‑stack solutions within Agile teams.
Lead scalability, availability and resilience of solutions.
Stay current with tech trends, explore new technologies, and mentor others in the engineering community.
Encourage innovation, inclusion, and cross-team collaboration to improve velocity.
Oversee deployment of applications into AWS environments.
Transform monolithic apps into microservices and build new microservices.
