The Opportunity
Are you a technical leader who thrives on the "how" of delivery? Our client is looking for a Director of Engineering to act as the primary execution engine for their 35-person IT organization.
As the "right hand" to the CTO, you will take ownership of day-to-day delivery, overseeing a multi-disciplinary team of 20 (Engineers, QA, PMs, and Production Support) across US and India time zones. This isn’t a role for a "hands-off" administrator—we need a pragmatic leader who can dive into Java/AWS architecture discussions one hour and lead a stakeholder roadmap session the next.
What You Bring
- Leadership Experience: 8+ years leading engineering teams through complex, end-to-end software delivery.
- Technical Depth: Significant background in Java and AWS Microservices; able to audit architecture and unblock technical teams.
- People Management: Proven track record managing 15+ technical staff (Dev, QA, PM, and Production Support).
- Industry Expertise: Direct experience in the Insurance domain (P&C preferred).
- Global Delivery: Success managing hybrid Onshore/Offshore (India) teams.
- Process Mastery: Expert-level knowledge of Agile/SDLC and familiarity with SAFe scaling.li>
- Education: Degree in CS, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
Bonus Points
- Policy Platforms: Experience with Majesco, CoreConnect, or similar systems.
- Modern Innovation: Hands-on experience introducing AI-enabled tools or automation to engineering workflows.
- Low-Code/No-Code: Familiarity with Unqork or similar frontend platforms.
- Operations: Strong grasp of DevOps/SRE and security compliance.
- Company Fit: Experience in medium-sized organizations (balancing agility with stable delivery).
Why Join?
This is the "Sweet Spot" of company size—large enough to have resources and a complex P&C domain, but small enough that your leadership directly impacts the bottom line. You will be the catalyst that allows our CTO to focus on the future while you master the present.
