Job summary

Utah Soccer in Utah is seeking a Head of Physical Performance to lead first-team strength & conditioning, sports science, and load management. This role partners with coaching, medical, data science, and academy leadership to optimize player availability and performance.

You will supervise a performance staff, deliver on-field and gym programs, and drive data-informed decisions. The ideal candidate brings extensive professional soccer experience, a track record of leading teams, and proficiency

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Sport Science, or related field.
• 7+ years in elite/pro sport with 3+ years leading a performance staff.
• Proven ability to deliver physical prep in professional soccer.
• Current NSCA CSCS, UKSCA ASCC or equivalent certification.
• Knowledge of Tactical Periodization or game-model training.
• Experience with GPS wearables, force plates, and AMS.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop first-team physical performance staff.
• Implement a Tactical Periodization model aligned with coaching.
• Deliver on-field conditioning, warm-up, and gym programs.
• Oversee load Monitoring and adjust training based on data.
• Provide clear reports and dashboards on training and readiness.
• Oversee testing and maintain longitudinal player data.
• Individualize prep by position, history, and minutes.
• Collaborate with medical on return-to-play criteria.
• Manage performance tech, equipment, and facilities.
• Coordinate with Academy Performance for pathway alignment.
