Reporting to the Vice President of Supportive Housing Operations, this position provides both strategic leadership and hands-on operational oversight across multiple service areas, including social enterprises, kitchen operations, staffing support, employee development, and street outreach. The Director plays an important role in ensuring these services are well-managed, financially responsible, and aligned with Project HOME's mission.

This is an opportunity for an experienced leader who enjoys managing people, navigating complex operations, and making a meaningful impact across multiple programs.

  • Location: 1515 Fairmount Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19130
  • Work Arrangement: Primarily on-site and community-based, with one remote day per week
  • Compensation: $91,000-$94,000 annually, based on experience
What You'll Do

Leadership & Program Operations

  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across shared services programs, ensuring alignment with Project HOME's mission and organizational goals.
  • Oversee multiple teams and programs, including the Direct Services Staff Liaison, Floating Team, Kitchen Manager, Social Enterprise businesses, and SIT Outreach team.
  • Develop and implement measurable, person-centered programs that promote service quality, operational efficiency, and positive outcomes for staff and residents.

Team Development & Staffing Support

  • Supervise and support the Direct Services Staff Liaison in coordinating employee training, coaching, professional development, and wellness initiatives.
  • Direct the Floating Team to provide staffing coverage across supportive housing locations during vacancies, leaves, and periods of increased operational demand.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that emphasizes accountability, professional development, and employee well‑being.

Financial & Business Operations

  • Oversee Project HOME's Social Enterprise businesses, monitoring financial performance, operational effectiveness, and revenue goals while supporting meaningful employment opportunities.
  • Provide leadership and oversight of commercial kitchen operations, including budgeting, staffing, regulatory compliance, and supervision of the Kitchen Manager.

Outreach & Community Support

  • Lead the SIT Outreach team in coordinating street-based engagement and connecting individuals experiencing homelessness with housing and supportive services.
  • Provide hands‑on support across the supportive housing portfolio during emergencies, critical incidents, staffing shortages, and periods of transition, including crisis management and de‑escalation.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with government agencies, community organizations, and other stakeholders to support program operations, funding, and service delivery.
What You'll Need
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in residential services, supportive services, or a related field.
  • At least five years of supervisory experience overseeing multiple teams.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to develop, coach, and support diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing complex budgets and evaluating financial and operational performance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and multiple programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software platforms.
What You May Bring
  • Familiarity with Philadelphia's supportive housing, behavioral health, homeless services, and community outreach systems.
  • Experience overseeing social enterprise businesses or other revenue‑generating programs, including budgeting, financial reporting, and business operations.
  • Experience coordinating services across multiple locations or programs.
  • Knowledge of trauma‑informed, person‑centered practices and crisis intervention.
  • A valid driver's license is highly preferred, as the role may involve supporting community outreach and transportation needs.
