Job summary

Savannah-Chatham County Public School System seeks an experienced Assistant Chief to manage department operations, coordinate with school leadership, and direct district-wide law enforcement and security services. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Ten years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including 3–5 years at the command level.
• Georgia P.O.S.T. certification or ability to obtain certification within the timeframe.
• Valid Georgia driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
• Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct, monitor, and evaluate activities of the assigned division; stay current with legal changes and developments in law enforcement.
• Coordinate with principals and site administrators to deliver on-site security and law enforcement services.
• Develop and review department policies and SOPs to ensure compliance and best practices.
• Recruit, hire, and promote staff; oversee performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
• Lead emergency response planning and drills, including active shooter and CPTED integration.
• Assist in annual operating budget development and cost analyses for programs and equipment.
