Job summary

Dallas Center-Grimes Community School District is seeking a strategic Director of Business Services to lead financial operations, budgeting, and reporting. The role collaborates with the Superintendent, Board, and district leadership to ensure responsible use of public funds and long-term financial stability.

The position oversees budget development, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and compliance with Iowa education finance requirements, GAAP, and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, public administration, or a related field.
• Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, budgeting, financial management, or business operations.
• Experience in public school finance, governmental accounting, or public-sector financial administration strongly preferred.
• Prior supervisory, management, or leadership experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Iowa public school finance, school district budgeting, governmental fund accounting, and reporting requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development, preparation, administration, and monitoring of the district's annual operating budget in collaboration with the Superintendent and district leadership.
• Oversee accounting systems, financial records, general ledger, reconciliations, and fund accounting practices.
• Coordinate payroll, benefits administration, and IPERS compliance in collaboration with HR.
• Oversee purchasing, accounts payable, and procurement processes and vendor management.
• Provide financial information, reports, and board materials to support budgeting and accountability.
