Dallas Center-Grimes Community School District seeks a Director of Business Services to provide strategic leadership of financial operations, budgeting, reporting, and compliance. You will oversee accounting, payroll, procurement, grants, and stakeholder reporting to ensure responsible use of public funds and district stability.

The role requires strong financial acumen, 5+ years in finance, and experience with school finance and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting/finance/budgeting/financial management.
• Public school finance or government accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience supervising staff is preferred.
• Experience with budgets, forecasting, audits, payroll, AP/AR and regulatory reporting.
• Knowledge of Iowa public school finance, DOE reporting preferred.
• Ability to interpret laws, policies, contracts, and procedures.
• Additional certifications in accounting/finance or education finance preferred.

Responsabilités

• Lead development, preparation, administration and monitoring of the district’s annual operating budget.
• Develop financial projections, revenue estimates, expenditure forecasts and multiyear plans.
• Monitor revenues, expenditures, cash flow and fund balances for fiscal responsibility.
• Provide analyses and reports to support informed decision‑making by the Superintendent and Board.
• Evaluate financial impact of programs, staffing, contracts, and capital projects.
• Improve internal controls and resource utilization across district operations.
• Coordinate with auditors on annual financial audit and corrective actions.
• Maintain internal controls, asset safeguards and documentation.

Formation

Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance/business/public administration

Master's degree preferred

5+ years in accounting/finance/budgeting

Public school finance experience preferred

Supervisory/leadership experience preferred

Budget development/forecasting/audits payroll reporting

Knowledge of Iowa school finance & DOE reporting

Professional certifications preferred
