Job summary

Monson Public Schools is seeking a Director of Facilities to lead planning, operation, and maintenance of all district facilities and grounds, including three school buildings and athletic fields. The role requires strong leadership, budget oversight, and the ability to respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis.

The Director will develop long- and short-term maintenance plans, oversee capital projects, manage staff and outside contractors, ensure safety codes compliance, and promote environmentally

Qualifications

• Associate degree (Bachelor’s preferred) in engineering, building trades, or related field.
• 7-10 years facilities maintenance/management experience with 5+ years supervisory.
• Massachusetts driver’s license with good driving record.
• Experience with snow plowing and snow removal.
• Knowledge of building maintenance methods; HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to respond to emergencies 24/7.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate maintenance and custodial tasks for all facilities and grounds.
• Develop long- and short-term maintenance plans and budgets.
• Oversee new construction, repairs, and capital improvement projects.
• Direct supervision of staff and staffing decisions within budget.
• Develop cleaning plans and ensure staff training.
• Manage building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection).
• Lead environmentally responsible practices and energy conservation.
• Coordinate Capital Improvement Plan and long-range facilities planning.
• Supervise external contractors and vendors.
• Prepare facilities for meetings and events.
