Job summary

Roche seeks a Safety, Health, and Environment leader to direct SHE, Facilities & Security at its Washington site. You will align site resilience with corporate strategy, lead a small team, and collaborate with leadership, scientists, and facility staff to maintain a safe, compliant research environment.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s (Master’s preferred), 12+ years in life sciences operations, 5+ years of people leadership, and expertise in regulatory analysis, MOC, and emergency readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical/Life Sciences, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field.
• Professional certification preferred (CSP, CIH, or PE).
• 12+ years of progressive operational leadership in life sciences/biotech/pharma environments.
• 5+ years of direct people management across cross-functional teams.
• Deep expertise in regulatory analysis, MOC, hazard identification, and safety standards.
• Experience commanding incidents and emergency response readiness.
• Ability to translate technical risks into executive insights and lead continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Translate global directives and regulations into local site policies.
• Represent SHE on site leadership teams and drive policy alignment.
• Oversee facilities engineering, maintenance, and capital projects.
• Lead disaster recovery frameworks and serve as Safety Officer during disruptions.
• Manage a high-complexity SHE portfolio including biosafety and hazardous materials.
• Direct regulatory governance and inspection readiness with authorities.
• Develop and mentor a high-performing SHE team.
