The Director of Safety is the head of the Safety department, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This role serves as the principal contact for safety matters related to operations, overseeing safety functions within Cargo Ops, Maintenance, Flight Operations, and Station Operations. Responsibilities include developing, improving, and implementing safety policies and procedures to promote effective safety operations at Amerijet. The ideal candidate will have expertise in strategies that integrate people, processes, tools, and data to ensure safety and compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the CFR 119 Director of Safety, liaising with the FAA and other agencies on safety issues.
- Oversee safety programs such as Aviation Safety Action Programs (ASAPs), Safety Management System (SMS), Internal Evaluation Program (IEP), and Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
- Collaborate with department leadership to ensure safety milestones are met.
- Promote top management commitment to SMS and safety initiatives.
- Monitor and report on safety activities impacting the airline.
- Maintain compliance within the Safety Management System and ensure documentation and continuous improvement.
- Train employees on safety standards and emergency procedures.
- Update and maintain safety manuals and software platforms.
- Conduct safety meetings and investigations, and evaluate safety risk assessments.
- Maintain relationships with external agencies such as FAA and industry organizations.
- Develop safety reports, trend analyses, and briefings for management and regulators.
- Lead safety-related investigations and emergency response drills.
Qualifications
- Minimum five years of supervisory experience with a Part 121 certificate holder.
- Bachelor's Degree in Aviation or Engineering; Master’s in Aviation Safety preferred.
- Experience in Aviation Safety Management, Risk Assessment, and Auditing.
- Knowledge of FAA regulations and safety policies.

Additional Requirements
- Physical ability to perform office tasks; occasional exertion up to 30 lbs.
