Under the direction of DOC's President and Regional Project Executive of Miami, the Southeast Regional Safety Director is responsible for the daily/weekly organization and implementation of Company safety expectations as required by management and various compliance organizations.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Oversees DOC Safety to ensure compliance with all aspects of managing Site Safety.
- Collaborates with all levels of DOC to promote world-class safety standards.
- Handles hiring, promotion, and termination related to DOC safety employees.
- Supports DOC Safety in all subcontractor job-specific safety programs.
- Ensures safety participation in scheduling look-aheads, pre-construction meetings, hazard identification, and mitigation.
- Provides safety onboarding for new hires as necessary.
- Reviews Job Safety Analyses and other safety plans for completeness.
- Offers recommendations and assistance to Project Managers and Superintendents regarding site hazards, employee training, equipment operation, and safe material use.
- Remains current on federal, state, county, and local safety regulations, advising management of updates and impacts.
- Educates the workforce on safer work practices, delivering relevant training and awareness programs.
- Ensures weekly safety audits are performed and follows up with project teams and Safety Managers.
- Participates in project meetings to understand upcoming work and ensure proper safety planning.
- Assists project teams with safety administrative documentation.
- Analyzes safety data to identify trends and develops strategies to address them periodically.
- Ensures pre-job surveys are conducted before construction begins, including pre-bid and plan reviews.
- Completes thorough incident analyses for unplanned events within established timeframes.
- Participates in the company's continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assigns safety personnel coverage for DOC's job sites.
Position Qualifications

- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and discrepancy recognition.
- Willingness to travel within the Southeast Region, including overnight stays, with a valid driver's license.
- Reliable and consistent attendance.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety Science or Safety Engineering.
- At least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internet research.
- OSHA 30-hour construction certification and First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
Working Conditions
This role involves working both indoors and outdoors, navigating construction sites, and using personal protective equipment, including stairs and ladders, in various weather conditions.
