Job summary

DMT Trucking, LLC is seeking a Director of Safety to lead the safety department and promote a culture of safety across our fleet.

You will interact daily with drivers, oversee training, and ensure regulatory compliance. The role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks, including weekends and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

• Safety experience is a plus but not required.
• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• 1–3 years of related experience preferred.
• Previous safety-related experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage the Safety Dept across all levels of DMT Trucking.
• Make safety decisions and ensure policy adherence.
• Talk daily with drivers for training or intervention.
• Promote safety awareness and safety culture fleet-wide.
• Investigate safety issues and re-educate or terminate as required.
• Oversee drug screen and random testing programs and related insurance testing.
• Ensure OSHA, DOT, FMLA and Workers' Comp compliance under direction of COO.
• Maintain personnel files and administer insurance forms including COBRA.
• Prepare monthly OSHA, life insurance and safety-related reports.

DMT currently runs over 300 trucks and almost 400 trailers from our three terminals in Starke, FL, Camden, AL, and Broken Bow, OK. DMT Trucking provides safe and reliable transportation to customers across the eastern half of the United States, and is unique to any other PS Logistics owned company in that its fleet of over the road trailers is comprised of all 53-foot trailers.

Job Description

The Director of Safety will direct and manage all safety objectives and processes throughout all levels of the Company. You will be actively involved daily in activities ensuring safety awareness and promoting safety culture.

• Manage the day to day Safety Dept of DMT.
• Make safety decisions.
• Talk to drivers daily who may need training or intervention.
• We will operate our fleet safely and protect those who are sharing the roadways with us.
• We will treat our employees fairly and with respect and provide them with the resources needed to be successful.
• We will provide our customers with a level of service that is worthy of recommendation.
• Ensuring all drivers are fully trained and knowledgeable of all safety risks associated with their job
• Investigating safety related issues (i.e. accidents, traffic violations, damages, workers comp claims) to ensure safety standards are adhered to and re-educating or terminating as required
• Managing processes to ensure all drug screens, random testing and other insurance related testing is performed regularly
• Administrating legal compliance with respect to OSHA, DOT, FMLA & Workers Comp under direction of the COO
• Attending unemployment hearings or other legal proceedings regarding employment
• Ensuring personnel files (medical, insurance, benefits) are maintained
• Administrating all employee insurance forms including COBRA
• Monthly reporting on OSHA, Life Insurance, Accidents (for Driver Managers), Monthly Staff Turnover, Owner Operator Physical Damage and Bobtail Report
• Oversee selections for awards (Driver of the Month, Safety Award, etc.) and holding quarterly safety meetings

Qualifications

Would like someone who has transportation background. Safety experience a plus, but not necessary.

Must consistently demonstrate the company’s Mission and Values. They must have good oral and written communication skills in order to effectively interact with customers, drivers andother team members in person and on the telephone. They must be customer service-oriented as well as team-oriented and must have good organizational skills. A successful Director of Safety must be able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Finally, they must be able to work a flexible schedule when needed to including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
