Job Description:

Tracx TMS is seeking a strategic and proactive Director of Research & Development to lead our engineering and product delivery efforts. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the Group CTO, this role requires a hands-on, action-oriented leader who can drive innovation and execution across multiple development teams.

Your responsibilities include shaping the overall development strategy, improving engineering processes, and fostering a high-performance culture focused on delivering customer-centric, scalable, and high-quality software solutions. Your leadership will influence daily engineering execution, long-term technology planning, and cross-functional collaboration with Product, QA, DevOps, and Design teams.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead the software development team daily to deliver timely releases for features, enhancements, and fixes for Tracx’s suite of applications.
2. Implement efficient processes, scalable tools, and resource allocation to achieve high productivity.
3. Collaborate with company leaders to understand the impact of software releases on the business and clients.
4. Partner with Engineering, Product, QA, DevOps, and Design teams to ensure alignment in planning, scoping, and executing initiatives.
5. Guide the development team to maintain effective communication across the company.
6. Coordinate staff activities to meet project objectives.
7. Plan and execute staff development and training activities.
8. Participate in daily stand-ups and planning sessions to ensure on-time software releases.
9. Report weekly to management on progress, timelines, staffing, and obstacles.
10. Forecast and manage the annual budget.
11. Collaborate with management and experts to establish the company's technical vision and evaluate usability versus performance trade-offs.
12. Promote best practices such as unit testing, code reviews, and proper ticketing procedures.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
