LHH is working with a well-established and growing P&C insurance organization seeking a Director of Reinsurance Accounting to lead all aspects of reinsurance accounting, reporting, and analysis. Key Responsibilities

• Lead all ceded and assumed reinsurance accounting activities including month-end close, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Manage and mentor a team of 2–3 accounting professionals.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, underwriting, claims, and external reinsurers to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reinsurance transactions.
• Prepare detailed reinsurance schedules for statutory, GAAP, and management reporting.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal controls.
• Support external audits and drive process improvements.
• Provide strategic guidance on reinsurance accounting and program structure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• 6+ years of accounting experience with a minimum of 4 years in reinsurance accounting.
• Previous experience in the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance industry is required, with a strong understanding of industry-specific reinsurance practices and financial reporting standards.
• Proven leadership experience managing small teams.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, SAP, and statutory insurance accounting.
• Experience with relevant accounting systems and reinsurance subledgers.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Comfortable working fully remote with a high degree of autonomy.
