Job summary

Aston Group in New York is seeking a Director of Recreational Therapy to lead, plan, and supervise a full range of therapeutic and general recreation services for residents in our skilled nursing facility. You will develop programs, manage budgets, and work with the interdisciplinary team to enhance quality of life.

• Recreation experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility
• CTRS certification (or equivalent)
• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Therapeutic Recreation
• Minimum 3 years of Activities Director experience
• Excellent administrative and organizational skills
• Enjoy working with the senior population

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement & supervise all recreational services.
• Maintain and develop recreational budget.
• Plans individual and group recreation services, both therapeutic and general.
• Create exciting & therapeutic recreation programs.
• Directly supervise all recreation assistants and volunteers.
• Responsible for all necessary documentation.
• Provide and monitor individual guidance and motivation to employees.
• Member of the interdisciplinary & management teams.
• Plans a monthly resident council meeting and liaises with residents’ committees.
• Takes minutes and ensures resident concerns are addressed.
• Coordinates community programming and serves as facility representative at local events.
