Job summary

Cresilon, a Brooklyn-based biotechnology and medical device company, seeks a Director of Research & Development to lead interdisciplinary teams developing hemostasis devices for animal and human health. You will drive early-stage research through product launches, ensuring stage-gate readiness and regulatory compliance.

The role requires broad materials science expertise, strong leadership, and a strategic vision to expand Cresilon's portfolio while mentoring top talent.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a relevant engineering/science field.
• 10+ years of direct management experience.
• 10+ years of experience developing polymer materials for product development.
• Proven success leading projects from early development to stage-gate milestones, regulatory submission, and launch.
• Experience developing and commercializing products in a regulated environment.
• Hands-on research experience with polymers, biomaterials, coatings, and related systems.
• Strong PM/PLM practices with cross-functional leadership.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with senior stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% and legal US work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Lead Cresilon R&D team across parallel product development programs for animal health and human markets.
• Provide scientific leadership and mentorship to researchers and engineers.
• Oversee technology transfer, scale-up, and process validation for new products.
• Drive exploratory research aligning with pipeline expansion and corporate strategy.
• Ensure compliance with SOPs, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
