Job summary

Cresilon is seeking a senior R&D Manager/Principal Scientist in Brooklyn, NY to lead polymer formulation, material development, and scalable manufacturing integration for medical devices. You will mentor a small team, drive design controls, and collaborate with regulatory affairs to translate bench research into manufacturable processes.

A PhD is preferred; a Master’s with 10+ years of relevant experience is required.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or closely related field.
• Minimum 10 years of research experience in polymeric materials or biomaterials for product development.
• At least 2 years of direct management experience.
• Experience with regulatory submissions (510(k), IDE) and design controls.
• Strong leadership, communication, and project-management skills.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Lead formulation development teams across parallel product opportunities to launch new products.
• Provide scientific leadership, planning, and coaching for the team.
• Design and execute experiments on polymeric materials and their properties.
• Drive design changes through design-control processes with documentation.
• Review protocols and reports for development studies and verification activities.
• Develop investigations into new technologies and capabilities in collaboration with business dev.
• Lead material characterization and test-method development for R&D and production needs.
• Mentor staff and manage resource allocation aligned with portfolio priorities.
• Coordinate with Regulatory Affairs for documentation supporting regulatory submissions.
