Job summary

NEKLO, based near Timonium, MD, seeks a leader for Research and Development to guide AiRISTA’s current and future software, hardware and embedded solutions. You will partner with Product and Operations to align the roadmap with market needs and position AiRISTA as a market leader.

The role requires an engineering master’s, 5+ years in tech, 7+ years leading teams of 10+, strong networking, software and project management skills, and certifications.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years in the technology field with experience in networking, software development.
• Experience with networking and routing, protocol analysis, firewall and server setup, and troubleshooting live data traffic.
• Minimum 7 years of management experience leading a team of at least 10 software and hardware developers.
• Technical certifications such as Project Management, Scrum Master, CWNA, CWSP, WCNA are highly desirable.
• Strong communication skills and ability to provide status updates to stakeholders.
• Proficient with MS Office and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Translate product roadmap into active sprints and release cycles using agile methodology and toolchains.
• Spearhead technology research to keep AiRISTA at the forefront of innovation.
• Create and maintain a solutions roadmap across hardware and software in collaboration with product management.
• Oversee Tier 3 customer support and feed insights back into the roadmap.
• Build and coach the R&D team; balance fixed hires and contractors to control costs and maintain agility.
• Assess and improve development processes to ensure ISO compliance.

Job description

As the leader of Research and Development, you will be responsible for maintaining AiRISTA’s current and developing AiRISTA’s future solutions across software, hardware and embedded software. You work closely with Product management and Operations to ensure the solutions roadmap and timing is aligned with the market need to position AiRISTA as a market leader in our segment.

Requirements

• - Education: Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• - Experience: min 5 years in the technology field, with experience in networking, software development
• - Proficiency in networking and routing, protocol analysis, firewall and server setup, and network troubleshooting of live data traffic
• - Min 7 years of management experience leading a team of min 10 software and hardware developers

• - Communication: Ability to work independently and provide comprehensive status updates to key stakeholders
• - Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
• - Experienced with MS Office and project management software

Responsibilities

• - Program/Project Management: Ensure the product roadmap is translated into active sprints and release cycles using the agile methodology. Implement and optimize the use of supporting tools such as agile software to ensure projects are documented and metrics are available for decision-making
• - Technology Research: Spearhead technology research to ensure AiRISTA is using the latest technology advancements to stay at the forefront of product innovation
• - Solutions development: Create and maintain an active solutions roadmap in close corporation with product management across HW and SW solutions that will position and keep AiRISTA at the forefront of RTLS solutions
• - Customer/Services TIER 3 Support: Manage Tier 3 level product support through the company’s ticketing system and incorporate learnings into the solutions roadmap for future releases
• - Team management: Build, coach and drive the R&D team to deliver on the solutions roadmap. Create a balance between fixed hire and contractors to manage costs and keep agility to move fast when needed
• - Quality Control, Documentation and Process Improvement: Assess, improve and solidify our development processes, procedures and documentation to ensure ISO compliance

Working conditions

Max 1 flight away from BWI, with the ability to travel up to 10% of the time. Preferably driving distance from our headquarters in Timonium, MD.
