Job summary

UPMC is seeking a senior Quality leadership role to direct the functions of the Quality Department and ensure high-value, safe, and high-quality care. The position requires driving continuous process improvement and accountability for the quality program at the assigned facility.

The role leads patient safety initiatives, regulatory compliance activities, and performance improvement projects, with budget responsibility and cross-department collaboration to support strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

• Serves as resource for healthcare acquired conditions, readmissions and patient safety indicators; analyzes events to identify opportunities for improvement; organizes, reports and maintains the peer review process.
• Develops and implements the individual quality plan; ensures plan integrates with strategic plan; collaborates with Quality Department.
• Drives performance improvement measures; collaborates with departments to develop and implement improvement projects; creates solutions to address events.
• Supervises and maintains all quality reporting related to reimbursement and quality ratings.
• Serves as the Patient Safety Officer; maintains and cultivates a culture of safety and conducts safety activities.
• Ensures compliance with Joint Commission standards, DoH regulations and CMS Conditions of Participation; plans and coordinates surveys, audits and improvements.
• Chairs Environment of Care (EOC) committees at entity and system levels; maintains survey readiness for EOC.
• Develops and maintains the Patient Safety Plan; analyzes event reports for patterns to drive change.
• Coordinates patient experience reporting by analyzing data and driving improvement plans.
• Accounts for the budget of the Quality Department; manages revenue and costs.
