SSC represents the combined strength of North Shore Steel, Greens Bayou Pipe Mill, and Ford Steel—three trusted names in steel processing, fabrication, and distribution. As we continue to grow and evolve, our commitment to safety, quality, and service remains unwavering.

We are seeking a forward-thinking Director of Quality to lead and develop our quality function across all SSC Steel Service Center operations. This individual will drive a culture of continuous improvement, ensure customer satisfaction, and elevate quality performance across three production sites supporting 140+ team members.

Position Summary

The Director of Quality will be responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and management of SSC’s Quality Management System (QMS). This includes oversight of quality control, regulatory compliance, internal audits, process improvement, and team development. The ideal candidate is a strong leader and collaborator, experienced in metals manufacturing, who can guide a diverse quality team to deliver reliable, customer-aligned outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and continuously improve the company’s QMS in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and other industry standards.
• Oversee all quality control and assurance functions, including inspection processes, testing protocols, internal and external audits.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and data-driven problem-solving tools.
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, commercial, and supply chain teams to reduce variation and improve consistency.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related technical field required; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive quality leadership experience in steel, heavy manufacturing, or metals processing industries.
• Deep understanding of ISO 9001:2015, ASTM, AWS, ASME standards, and relevant certifications.
• Demonstrated expertise in regulatory compliance, including ITAR, EAR, and Joint Certification Program (JCP) requirements for handling controlled technical data.
