Job Description - Supplier Quality Director EU Direct Material (2506229035W)

Job Summary:

The Supplier Quality Director EU Direct Material will provide experienced mentorship and direction in supplier quality assurance across DePuy Synthes manufacturing sites and the External Manufacturing supply chain. The role ensures all supplier quality activities align with DePuy Synthes, J&J Medtech, and regulatory standards. As a key leader, you will be responsible for developing and leading all aspects of quality assurance systems that meet the company’s objectives regarding supplier control, while also supporting key initiatives such as Network Optimization, Licensing, and Acquisitions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Own the overall supplier control processes for all listed locations, ensuring compliance with regulatory and J&J quality standards.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve supplier control processes and quality systems.
  • Recruit, develop, and handle a high-performing Source Quality team to achieve company and group objectives.
  • Provide quality engineering support to suppliers, including inspection techniques, product non-conformances, CAPA, and change management.
  • Ensure effective and timely investigation, closure of CAPAs, Supplier Non-Conformances, complaints, and product issues.
  • Lead Supplier Quality input during site management reviews and third-party assessments.
  • Provide quality leadership for supplier and External Manufacturing Outsourcing programs and product transfers.
  • Collaborate with site management teams to meet SQ-related objectives and contribute to supplier business reviews.
  • Maintain and control the list of approved suppliers, ensuring continuous evaluation and compliance with MD&D Supplier Quality requirements.
  • Promote continuous improvement and process perfection within the Source Quality management group.
  • Drive defined Supplier and External Manufacturing Quality Systems goals and objectives to resolution.
  • Generate quality metrics on supplier performance, establishing effective measures to monitor quality.
  • Ensure all health, safety, and environmental requirements are met.
Experience and Education:
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, scientific, or related technical field is required; an Advanced degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of dynamic experience in a regulated industry, with at least 5 years in a managerial capacity.
  • 3+ years of experience in a quality or engineering role, with a shown ability to lead teams and drive quality initiatives across global, multi-site environments.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
  • Previous experience working with suppliers is strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of the business impact of compliance issues and risk management.
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership roles involving worldwide project management, problem-solving, and technical projects in multicultural settings.
  • Strong skills in negotiating, influencing decision-makers, and effective communication and leadership.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on judgment, tact, and leadership experience.
Responsibility for Others and Internal Interactions:
  • Reports to the Senior Supply Chain Quality Director for Joint Recon, Power Tools, and Robotics.
  • Manages a team of Source Quality Managers across listed locations.
  • Collaborates within a matrix environment, interacting with cross-functional teams at all levels.
Location and Travel Requirements:
  • This position can be based at one of the following locations: Cork, Ireland; PBG USA; Raynham, USA; or performed remotely.
  • The role may require up to 30% travel, including some international travel.
External Interactions:
  • Regular interaction with suppliers and External Manufacturers of J&J.
  • Contact with Notified Bodies and Regulatory Agencies to support product registration submission queries and QMS inspections.
