Job summary

Carolina Container seeks a Director of Quality to provide strategic leadership for quality management systems and product quality standards. You will oversee regulatory compliance, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure high-quality corrugated packaging products and operational excellence.

The role requires extensive manufacturing quality leadership, ISO 9001/ Six Sigma expertise, and the ability to drive KPI-based performance while mentoring a quality team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field required.
  • Manufacturing experience in the corrugated industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong project management skills with strategic thinking.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • Excellent financial and budget management skills.
  • 7–10 years of progressive quality leadership experience in manufacturing.
  • 5+ years of people management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure manufacturing aligns with specifications and quality requirements.
  • Contribute to achievement of company’s strategic and operational objectives.
  • Participate in daily, weekly, monthly and annual planning processes.
  • Develop and maintain company-wide quality systems and standards.
  • Establish quality KPIs and reporting mechanisms.
  • Lead quality assurance, audits, compliance, and corrective action programs.
  • Partner with operations to reduce defects, scrap, and rework.
  • Serve as the primary contact for customer quality concerns and audits.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recruit, develop, and manage quality personnel.

Job description

The Director of Quality provides strategic leadership and oversight of Carolina Container's quality management systems, product quality standards, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role ensures the consistent production of high-quality corrugated packaging products that meet or exceed customer expectations while driving operational excellence throughout the organization.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all workings are manufactured in a correct, cost effective and timely manner in alignment with specifications and quality requirements.
  • Contribute towards the achievement of company’s strategic and operational objectives.
  • Participate in daily, weekly, monthly and annual planning process as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain company-wide quality systems and standards.
  • Establish quality KPIs and reporting mechanisms.
  • Lead quality assurance, audits, compliance, and corrective action programs.
  • Partner with operations to reduce defects, scrap, and rework.
  • Serve as the primary contact for customer quality concerns and audits.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recruit, develop, and manage quality personnel.

  • Exposure to wet and humid conditions in the plant environment
  • Exposure to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration in the plant environment.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • ASQ certification preferred.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • ISO 9001 experience preferred.
