Job summary

Monoprice is seeking an experienced Director of Purchasing to lead the purchasing function and own the company’s supplier base and AVL. The Director will negotiate pricing, terms, and supply agreements, hold suppliers to performance standards, and set policy to empower buyers while protecting margins and supply continuity.

Success includes strong supplier partnerships, optimal inventory levels, and data-driven decisions using ERP and analytics tools across U.S. and offshore teams.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in purchasing or procurement with at least 5 years leading a team.
• Experience purchasing and importing from Asia with knowledge of customs regulations and HTS.
• Proven vendor/AVL management with scorecards and performance reviews.
• Strong negotiation track record and durable supplier partnerships.
• Solid inventory and replenishment knowledge: turns, safety stock, buffer, obsolescence.
• Experience establishing purchasing policy and delegation-of-authority controls.
• Experience managing cross-functional and offshore teams.
• ERP experience required; NetSuite preferred; advanced Excel and data analysis.
• Excellent communication and leadership with integrity in supplier dealings.
• Experience in a company with $200M+ revenue is preferred; CPSM/CPIM a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Own AVL and supplier base, qualify and onboard vendors with a single owner.
• Lead vendor negotiations to protect total value and establish long-term partnerships.
• Manage supplier performance with scorecards and business reviews.
• Ensure continuity of supply, develop second sources, mitigate single-source risk.
• Define purchasing policy and controls with clear spending authority.
• Manage inventory health with turns, safety stock, and buffer targets.
• Own purchasing budget and monitor cost performance and VAR.
• Direct overseas purchasing from Southeast Asia, coordinating inbound freight.
• Develop KPIs and present results to leadership.
• Coach and grow the buying team across US and offshore.
