Job summary

Mantell Associates is partnered with a leading Biologics CDMO, who are searching for a Director of Project Management to join their organisation in Boston. The role leads a team delivering client programmes across development and manufacturing, owning the PM framework and ensuring timely, on-budget, quality delivery.

• Proven experience leading a team of Project Managers.
• Strong track record managing multi-workstream client programmes from initiation to delivery.
• Excellent client-facing communication and relationship management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Project Managers overseeing client programmes across the biologics development and manufacturing lifecycle
• Serve as the senior escalation point for client relationships, ensuring programmes are delivered on time, on budget and to the required quality standards
• Own the project management framework, tools and methodologies used across the organisation, driving continuous improvement in delivery consistency
• Partner with Business Development to support proposal development, scoping and resourcing for new client opportunities
• Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Process Development and Supply Chain teams to align cross-functional resources against client timelines
• Provide regular programme status updates and risk assessments to senior leadership and clients, proactively identifying and resolving delivery issues
• Support capacity planning and resource forecasting across the project portfolio in collaboration with Operations
• Champion a strong customer service culture within the Project Management function, ensuring client expectations are consistently met or exceeded
• Contribute to the development of departmental strategy, budgets and headcount planning

Director of Project Management - Requirements:

• Significant experience in Project Management within a Biologics CDMO, CMO or broader biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment
• Proven experience leading and developing a team of Project Managers
• Strong track record of managing complex, multi-workstream client programmes from initiation through to delivery
• Solid understanding of biologics development and manufacturing processes, including upstream/downstream operations and Quality/Regulatory requirements
• Excellent client-facing communication and relationship management skills
• Experience working with project management tools and methodologies (e.g. PMP, Agile, or equivalent)
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, matrixed organisation with competing priorities
• Based in or willing to relocate to the Boston area
