Job summary

The SBCC Foundation is seeking a Director of Programs to lead scholarship programs, the SBCC Promise, grants, and restricted funds. You will supervise the Scholarship Manager, coordinate with the Development team, and act as a key liaison to SBCC administrators and staff.

Based in Santa Barbara with a hybrid schedule, you’ll drive budgeting, reporting, donor strategy, and cross-campus initiatives to ensure funds reach students and college programs as intended.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• At least 5 years in scholarship administration, grants management, or nonprofit program management.
• At least 3 years of grant writing and reporting experience.
• At least 2 years of staff supervision experience.
• Working knowledge of restricted funds and donor intent with finance team reconciliation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain funding rules clearly.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach the Scholarship Manager and program or grants interns.
• Oversee the annual scholarship cycle from applications to award coordination.
• Oversee the SBCC Promise funding plan, budget, policies, and billing with partners.
• Lead grant seeking from foundation, corporate, and government sources; prepare reports for funders.
• Serve as main contact for SBCC departments on restricted funds and funding requests.
• Coordinate student emergency grant requests with College partners and Finance.
• Collaborate with Finance to reconcile fund balances and monitor program budgets.
• Manage the Board Program Committee and report progress to CEO and Board.
• Build relationships across campus and represent the Foundation at events.
