Director of Product Engineering - based onsite in Austin, TX

Job Summary: Jabil is seeking a Director of Product Engineering who will directly contribute to the transformative growth within our Hyperscale, Cloud and Enterprise Infrastructure division by applying unique and innovative approaches to developing customer solutions. You will be responsible for managing the technical direction of your team through the lens of the customer, factory, and services. You will also be responsible for partnering and collaborating with internal engineering, product management, program management, manufacturing, test, and quality teams to ensure your products meet the rigorous standards and performance of Jabil’s world-class manufacturing environments and our end customers.

What can you expect to do?

  • Guide and manage the delivery of a portfolio of development efforts for new and sustaining programs for server and storage products.
  • Organize teams and drive solutions for multiple, complex problems cross-functionally and within various areas of technical expertise (hardware, software, firmware, performance, interoperability, etc.).
  • Apply the right level of execution discipline and engineering rigor to all technical program deliverables – lead by example.
  • Make key decisions with respect to quality and features that may impact customer experience.
  • Influence individuals, teams, and executives to support the delivery of programs within schedule, scope, and budget boundaries.
  • Understand how technical decisions impact the broader business, factories, and customers and use these insights to lead the broader organization to optimized outcomes.
  • Communicate complex issues in simple, actionable terms at all levels within the organization.
  • Develop, grow, and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships with peers, team members, executive leadership, customers, and external partners.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Exceptional product development and program management skills.
  • Expert understanding of Agile and phase gate development methods with the ability to drive organizational transformation.
  • Deep experience in process development and process improvement.
  • Ability to lead the development of complex processes spanning multiple functions and areas of expertise.
  • Prior end-to-end development experience spanning architecture, engineering design, test and sustaining

What is the experience needed to be successful in this role?

  • BS degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 10-15+ years of experience in an engineering product development environment working with a portfolio of products with enterprise server, storage, or networking experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • 4+ years of experience directly managing an engineering team; managing remote, multi-national, and geographically dispersed teams is highly desired.
  • Domestic and/or international travel, up to 25%, may be required.
