Job summary

Bensonwood is seeking a Director of Preconstruction to lead our preconstruction management and join the leadership team in Walpole, NH. The role oversees Preconstruction Leads, Estimators, and Engineers, driving standards, processes, and client engagement.

Reporting to senior leadership, this director champions preconstruction excellence—aligning sales, design, engineering, procurement, and production to maximize project conversion and profitability while guiding teams to build contracts

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in construction, design-build, preconstruction, estimating, or project management.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing technical and client-facing teams.
• Demonstrated expertise in estimating, budgeting, construction methods, project planning, and risk management.
• Deep understanding of design-build project delivery systems.
• Strong financial acumen and proficiency with estimating software, PM platforms, MS Office, and construction tech tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Preconstruction Leads, Estimators, and Preconstruction Engineers; set performance expectations and metrics.
• Attend weekly leadership meetings; communicate vision, enforce SOPs, and foster accountability across the team.
• Oversee active preconstruction projects; standardize workflows, estimating, budgeting, and scope development.
• Provide high-level oversight of budgets, schedules, design development, and engineering coordination.
• Partner with Sales on pursuit strategies, proposals, and preconstruction offerings; serve as executive contact during preconstruction.
• Manage departmental budgets, staffing forecasts, and key performance indicators including conversion rates and revenue.
