About The Opportunity
Our client is a growing consumer products company in the beauty and personal care industry, creating thoughtfully developed products that combine high-performance ingredients, modern design, and elevated sensory experiences. The organization is building the operational infrastructure needed to support an expanding product portfolio and ambitious launch calendar.
Position Overview
The Director of PMO will establish and lead the project management function across product development, packaging, regulatory, operations, commercialization, and marketing. This leader will create the processes, tools, governance, and cross-functional operating rhythm that bring complex launches from concept through market execution.
This is a highly hands-on leadership role for someone who can build scalable PMO infrastructure while managing detailed critical paths, resolving risks, and aligning stakeholders around clear priorities and decisions. The Director of PMO will manage one direct report and partner closely with senior leadership to improve portfolio visibility, launch readiness, and execution discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the master critical path for active product development initiatives, including new launches, line extensions, reformulations, and technology transfers.
- Translate formulation, packaging, regulatory, manufacturing, and commercialization milestones into integrated, actionable project plans.
- Build and maintain launch calendars, project timelines, resource views, dependency tracking, and project-level spend visibility.
- Establish standardized project-management processes, templates, milestone frameworks, and governance for cross-functional teams.
- Lead regular critical-path reviews to surface risks, align teams on trade-offs, and drive timely decisions.
- Identify bottlenecks early, develop mitigation plans, and serve as a primary escalation point for timeline risks.
- Own and continually improve project intake, artwork-change governance, registration sequencing, and launch-readiness workflows.
- Develop dashboards and reporting that provide leadership with a clear view of portfolio health, timeline status, risks, and key decisions.
- Serve as the central connector across Product Development, Packaging, Regulatory, Operations, Commercialization, Marketing, and external partners.
- Manage and develop a direct report, ensuring alignment to portfolio priorities and accountability for key deliverables.
- Own the project-management platform as the system of record, including templates, dependencies, portfolio reporting, and team adoption.
- Document lessons learned and use historical project outcomes to improve planning assumptions, lead times, and future execution.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in project management, program management, product development operations, or a related function.
- Experience in beauty, personal care, consumer packaged goods, or another product-driven consumer category strongly preferred.
- 2+ years of direct people-management experience.
- Demonstrated success building project-management processes, systems, or infrastructure from the ground up.
- Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle, including formulation, testing, packaging development, regulatory review, manufacturing, and commercialization.
- Advanced experience with Asana or a comparable project-management platform, including timeline planning, dependencies, templates, and portfolio reporting.
- Comfort using AI-enabled tools to support planning, communication, documentation, and workflow efficiency.
- Exceptional cross-functional communication, organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to translate complex project data into clear recommendations for executive stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience; PMP or comparable certification is a plus.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment where priorities may shift.
