Job summary

Deca Talent has partnered with a high-growth AI Security company to hire a hands-on engineering leader who will own the platform and infrastructure function. You will shape the technical foundations of a scaling engineering organisation and influence architecture, engineering standards and production operations.

You will lead platform and infrastructure teams, drive cloud and distributed systems decisions, and raise the technical bar as the company expands its AI workloads.

Qualifications

• Experience leading platform/infrastructure or backend teams.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and production infra.
• Ability to alternate architectural decisions with hands-on problem solving.
• Proven track record of developing engineers and raising the technical bar.

This is an opportunity to shape the technical foundations of a scaling engineering organisation, with real influence over architecture, engineering standards and how systems are built and operated in production.

The role

• Lead and develop a team of platform and infrastructure engineers, while remaining technically hands-on.
• Set direction for platform architecture, AI infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Build reliable, scalable foundations supporting complex, data-intensive and AI-driven workloads.
• Drive decisions across cloud infrastructure, compute, networking, storage, observability and developer tooling.
• Improve engineering practices, reliability and operational efficiency as the organisation scales.
• Partner with engineering leadership to identify priorities, make pragmatic technical trade-offs and build out the function.

What we're looking for

• An experienced engineering leader with a strong background in platform, infrastructure or backend engineering.
• Deep technical understanding of distributed systems and production infrastructure.
• Someone who can move between architectural decisions, detailed technical problem-solving and team leadership.
• Experience building teams and systems in a fast-moving environment, with the judgement and autonomy to operate without excessive oversight.
• A track record of developing engineers and raising the technical bar.

Experience supporting AI or ML workloads is useful, but strong platform and infrastructure fundamentals are the priority.
