Job summary

AlmaVia of San Francisco is seeking a Plant Ops & Maintenance Director to lead preventative maintenance, oversee safety, and manage facilities operations in our elder care community. You will supervise staff, manage contracts and capital projects, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive energy efficiency while partnering with the management team to deliver high-quality resident services.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma, 6+ years in facilities management with healthcare exposure,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; some college coursework preferred.
• Contractor’s license preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 6 years’ related experience in facilities management, construction, engineering, property management and maintenance, with at least 3 years in healthcare or retirement community environment.
• Advanced understanding of building codes, life safety regulations, and Cal-OSHA standards; journeyman-level HVAC/boiler, electrical, plumbing and mechanical equipment.
• Excellent verbal and written communications in English.
• Valid driver’s license; strong leadership and supervisory skills.
• Familiarity with safety policies and procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, email).

Responsibilities

• Oversee preventative maintenance of buildings, systems, and grounds.
• Manage contracts with external experts and contractors.
• Manage capital projects, including bids, contractor selection, and budget management.
• Ensure timely project status reports and documentation.
• Supervise maintenance operations and track work orders.
• Promote energy conservation and conduct QA inspections.
• Participate in Quality Improvement programs and Work Safety committees.
• Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise Plant team members.
• Conduct safety reviews and ensure compliance with regulations.
